NRCS WinPond 2007

Introduction

This Pond Design program has been developed and upgraded to assist engineers and technicians in the design of ponds and structures. The WinPond program can be used to assist with the following:

  1. Determining Auxiliary (emergency) spillway and top of dam elevations by floodrouting principal and auxiliary spillway storms.
  2. Determining an auxiliary spillway elevation using up to three pipe trials.
  3. Computing earthwork quantities including settled fill, constructed fill, stripping, and core trench.
  4. Printing a variety of reports reflecting design functions including a construction checkout sheet, conduit details, and a summary sheet.

The use of the software is intended for low hazard dams conforming to Natural Resources Conservation Service, Pond (378) conservation practice standard. These dams are ones where failure would not result in loss of life, damage to homes, commercial or industrial buildings, main highways, or railroads; or in interruption of the use or service of public utilities. NRCS 378 Pond conservation practice standard limits the Effective Height to less than 35 feet and a height x storage value of less than 3000 acre-feet.

This packaging of the software is NOT configured for USDA CCE computers.
