farmers wait until spring to put down nitrogen. Wet, saturated soils can lead to nitrogen being lost from fields and not available to the crops next spring. Consider side dressing your fields in the spring as part of your fertilizer program. You can utilize late spring nitrate tests and tailor fertilizer applications to exactly what the plants need. That can save farmers money and reduce nitrogen losses. For other money and soil saving suggestions please see your local NRCS county office."
