(Script) This year 292 applications have been made to retire 25,000 flood prone acres of farmland in Iowa under the Emergency Watershed Protection—Floodplain Easement Program. More applications are being received. This program allows NRCS to purchase permanent easements on frequently-flooded farmland. People that own land in floodplains damaged by flooding this year are likely eligible for the program. For more information contact your county NRCS office.
