Farm Ground Too Wet to Plant? Consider No-Till

Announcer:

If A Wet spring is making you anxious about getting into the field to plant, NRCS State Agronomist Barb Stewart says CONSIDER no-till.

Barb Stewart (MP3, :24):

“Wet springs are a great time to consider no-till or strip-till. No-tillers are planting their crop when everyone else is starting to do their first or second tillage. No-tillers take better advantage of good weather windows, save fuel and conserve soil moisture in case of drought. When the ground is dry enough for field work it’s dry enough to plant no-till or strip till. ”

Announcer:

For more information on the advantages of planting no-till or strip till, see your local NRCS office.
