(Script) Funds are now available to help build odor reducing structures under the Environmental Quality Incentives Program. EQIP can pay livestock producers up to $2.50 per animal unit for each of three years to install and maintain biofilters. Biofilters fit to the outlet of confinement exhaust fans and break down odors. Designed right, Iowa State University says they can be very effective in reducing offensive odors. For more information on biofilters, visit your local NRCS or Iowa State University Extension office.
