Five Iowa Watersheds to Take Part in Mississippi River Basin Initiative

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced five Iowa watersheds, known as Focus Areas, were selected to participate in a new initiative to improve water quality and the overall health of the Mississippi River Basin. These watersheds are the Boone, Maquoketa, North Raccoon, Upper Cedar (shared with Minnesota) and Lower Grand (shared with Missouri.) (A very small portion of northeast Iowa is also part of the Initiative through the Root watershed in Minnesota.)
