GIS Data SourcesLighthouse Resource Data Gateway - The Geospatial Data Gateway provides One Stop Shopping for natural resources or environmental data at anytime, from anywhere, to anyone. This site allows you to choose your area of interest, browse and select data from our catalog, customize the format, and have it downloaded or shipped on CD. National SSURGO Database Data Access - NRCS has established three soil geographic data bases representing kinds of soil maps. The maps are produced from different intensities and scales of mapping. Each data base has a common link to an attribute data file for each a p unit component. The attribute data base contains physical and chemical soil properties for approximately 18,000 soil series recognized in the U.S. Iowa Cooperative Soil Survey - Provides free digital soil map data for Geographic Information System applications via internet download. The data is available in several file formats covering a single section or a full township. Also available are Web links to soils information and related digital products. Iowa Department of Natural Resources - The Natural Resources Geographic Information System (NRGIS) is the geographic information system (GIS) developed and maintained by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR). The purpose of the NRGIS is to improve the availability, integration, and analysis of natural resource information and improve decisions regarding the management, development and protection of Iowa's natural resources. Iowa Geographic Image Map Server - Provides free on-line access to geographically referenced digital data, including digital orthophotos (aerial photos), topographic maps, and landcover. Users can browse and download data in various image file formats, for use in desktop applications, including Geographic Information Systems.
